Karl, 52, on using the Improving Your Mental Health programme

While I was going through the programme, I realised how much I have been sitting back and letting life just happen around me. I now have the skills to better express how I am feeling to my family and friends. I am finally able to start thinking about the future and how I can start to enjoy life again.

Eventually I was so exhausted from the lack of sleep and stressed from constant worrying that I went to visit my doctor about it. I had put off the visit for so long because I assumed that I’d have to go to therapy and I knew that there was no way that I could fit this into my busy life. Yasmin, 56, on using the Space from Chronic Pain Programme

To be honest, last month I felt overwhelmed by everything all the time. No matter what I did, I couldn’t shift the feelings of sadness. I felt so fed up with everything, and my motivation to do anything at all was low. Pain and my low mood had blinded me from engaging with the positive aspects of my life. Being mindful and practicing gratitude are now a large part of my day. I try and take stock each day. It has opened me up to more positivity in my day and can help lift my spirits.

Danny, 38, on using the Space from Drug Use programme

The My Strengths tool reminded me of what matters to me, and who I am. I want to reconnect with my wife and make changes in my life, but I don’t know if I can tell her how much I have been using. I also don’t know if I can quit completely. I think I am going to have to reduce my use slowly.
